Phoenix College Flying School Sign at Sky Harbor Airport. Phoenix Junior College began flight training for students in the 1930s. The program eventually grew into an accredited aviation school based at Sky Harbor Airport. The flight program at Phoenix College ended in 1960 when the school sold its planes.
